Lives and works in Antigua Guatemala

In recent years the work of Diana de Solares has been characterized by the use of objects and materials found especially from the field of construction. Other materials such as mdf, shoelaces, yarns and fabric scraps, and various objects have been combined with iron, planks and discarded sticks to give rise to an abstract work, generally geometric in nature. The resulting constructions consist of two-dimensional pieces as well as three-dimensional wall-mounted and free-standing constructions. Using multiple intervened elements, he has also created in-situ installations: Where we are when we are in the world, Bienal de Arte Paiz, Guatemala, 2018, Pintura el Proyecto Incompleto (ESPACIO CE 2009), “Existing in a State of Dangerous Distraction” ( XVII Biennial of Art Paiz, Guatemala, 2010). Since 1998 he has had several solo exhibitions with Galería Sol del Rio (Guatemala), Henrique Faria Fine Art (New York), the 9.99 (Guatemala).
