Guatemala, 1979

Lives and works in Guatemala City.

 

He studied architecture at the San Carlos University of Guatemala and engraving at the School of Drawing, Painting and Engraving ¨La Esmeralda¨ in Mexico, DF. He is co-founder of the La Torana collective and the Taller Experimental de Gráfica de Guatemala, TEGG.

He has had around 10 personal exhibitions and has participated in numerous collective exhibitions at the MADC Contemporary Art and Design Museum of Costa Rica, at the MARTE Contemporary Art Museum in El Salvador, at Casa de las Américas, Havana, Cuba, at the first Trienal del Caribe, in Santo Domingo, and the Bienal de Pontevedra, Spain, among others.

Some of his artworks are housed at the Bodegas Otazu Collection (Spain) and the Pilar Citoler Collection (Spain), as well as in the collection of La Casa de Las Americas, Cuba.

Among his awards we can mention: Gold and Silver glyph at the Bienal de Arte Paiz, Second Prize in JUANNIO contest-auction, Unique Prize of the Rotary Club, Honourable mention at La Joven Estampa contest.
