Lives and works in Guatemala City.

 

​He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (Guatemala) and the Escuela de Artes Plásticas (Costa Rica). He started working with xylography. Later, he studied chalcography in an engraving workshop at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando (Spain). Being very young, he worked in graphic design and advertising in Costa Rica and Spain, and this experience would influence his future graphic and pictorial production.

He was a founding member of the group "Presencia Imaginaria" (Guatemala). Among his personal exhibitions, we can mention: Casa de América (Spain), El Laberinto Gallery (El Salvador), Engramme (Canada), Sol del Río Gallery (Guatemala) and Imaginaria Gallery (Guatemala), TEOR / éTica (Costa Rica) and Equilátero Gallery (Costa Rica). He has participated in numerous collective exhibitions like: Bienal de Arte Paiz (Guatemala), Klaus Steinmetz Gallery (Costa Rica), II National Biennial of Lima (Peru), in the Taipei Fine Arts Museum (Taiwan), the 24th Sao Paulo Biennial (Brazil), at the Wifredo Lam Center (Cuba), the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (Costa Rica), at the Museo Universitario del Chopo (Mexico), among others.

His artwork talks about the fascination provoked by the pictorial qualities, the graphic styles and the advertisement techniques, produced by colonialism and post-colonialism, manifested by the presence of the United Fruit Company in Central America and the Caribbean and its political, economic and social implications. He focuses on painting and engraving and has explored photography as an auxiliary medium of his pictorial work. He currently teaches engraving and painting in workshops where he shares his pictorial and graphic research.​

He is considered one of the most outstanding artists of Guatemala, city where he lives and works.
